OAKLAND TRIBUNE These Oakland songwriters have adapted like fish in water to the brave new recording world. – Angela Woodall (11/23/09)
NICK FELDMAN REVIEW I like “Lola Like This.” Being an 80’s guy who is very active now, I can get into the 80’s flavours that this delivers coupled with its contemporary spin. I like its decadent undertones and its electronic funky pop feel! – Nick Feldman of Wang Chung – Nick Feldman Review (2010)
JANGO AIRPLAY STAFF FAVORITES West Coasty and fun, and they really seem to know what they’re doing on a professional level, which I appreciate. Bonus points: one of the members is a direct descendant of Jesse James. (2009)
XPOSED Their songs have already appeared on the shows Samantha Who and Ugly Betty, but it’s that unforgettable scene on Showtime’s The L Word that really caused a buzz for the San Francisco-based duo of Alicia Perrone and Victor James. – Steven Steifel (June 2008)
THE SPIN – FMQB RADIO CHARTS Another single with lots of great buzz, is the Ann-Margrock penned single “Hot Sahara” (Ann-Margrock) which moves #31-#23 this week on the Combined Airplay chart. – Cary Vance (May 2009)
92.7 ENERGY SAN FRANCISCO Dance Top 40 Radio Chart features “Hot Sahara” at #31 and climbing. Top 40 Dance Radio Chart (2009)
THE L WORD ONLINE Perrone and James steamed up The L Word this season when “Hot Sahara” was used as the sexy soundtrack to the threesome with Shane at SheBar. The scene was so sexy that the FOJC MySpace page was temporarily shutdown due to concerns about the racy content of the now classic “Hot Sahara” scene. (March 2008)

Imagine the edgy/alt sound of Garbage but with a stronger, distinct voice and you get the idea of the sound of Fans of Jimmy Century. WINTER MUSIC CONFERENCE Winter Music Conference 2008 Top 25 Buzzed About Songs – “Hot Sahara makes the cut again. – DJ Ron Slomowicz
DANCEMUSIC.ABOUT.COM Best New Musical trend: Tech/electro is still majorly huge – but I forecast a new movement of dance rock. By this, I don’t mean rock bands doing dance music, I mean electronic artists/songwriters going in a rock direction. Keep your eyes out for Alicia Perrone and Victor James.
MACADDICT MAGAZINE We have featured their music on our compilations & in our magazine 3 years running including “The Future Will Blow Your Mind.” They are the songwriters to watch.
RADIO@AOL, NETSCAPE RADIO MUSIC DIRECTOR CAMEO CARLSON If I had a label, I’d sign them today. I love the record “Some Kinda Voodoo” and am adding six songs to rotation. Excellent stuff. When they perform live, they own every inch of the room. There isn’t one person in the room not absolutely enchanted.
SF WEEKLY SILKE TUDOR Led by the enchanting force that is Alicia Perrone, they landed a cameo and song in the Dan Aykroyd and Kirk Douglas comedy “Diamonds”, but that’s a small accomplishment next to the realization of Devil On My Mind—the most dazzling, fun, and charmingly insolent album I’ve heard this year.
I.M MAGAZINE Most of the musicians I listen to now went wacko from not having their genius appreciated in time. May that not be the fate of Simon Stinger. Set them free. Perrone deserves to be recognized as one of the finest singers in rock & roll today …the other musicians in this band are superlative as well…musicians of this caliber have been healers.
SF HERALD “BEST BAY AREA BAND: FOR 2004 The planets are aligning propelling them forward w/ an energy that is sheer magic … the songs on “Some Kinda Voodoo” produced by Sylvia Massy Shivy are all going to make their mark. Their song “The Future Will Blow Your Mind,” predicts exactly what the band will do on a global level. Perrone growls w/ the attitude of Ann-Margret, the chops of David Bowie, and the soul of Prince. – Kimberlye Gold
SKRATCH MAGAZINE They have found a way to revamp a new wave by adding more sex appeal than you’d ever imagine! Perrone’s vocals work wonders … powerful, utterly tantalizing. – Liz Ortega
KNAC They will probably blow up and will be all over the radio, MTV, fashion magazines. America won’t be able to get enough of ‘em and their sultry singer.
TEENVOICE Their album Devil On My Mind is incredible. They have mastered the art of creating catchy rock songs with just enough of a hard rock edge to draw attention … absolutely amazing vocals. Everything a listener could possibly desire. It should truly be a crime not to buy this CD.
BAM MAGAZINE Several friendships were tested while trying to pick just one gem from their gallery of divine hooks.
SF BAY GUARDIAN Like shoving your fist into Grandpa’s old tackle box, you can’t help but snag yourself on its many hooks. Their tunes can hold their own with commercial radio’s top picks.
ZERO MAGAZINE Lusty Alicia Perrone leads the most refreshing act … the essence of what a live band should be: energy and a wall of sexual pop rock.
IN MUSIC WE TRUST With a seductive, rock’n’roll frontwoman, and ferocious support from the band, they unite punkers and Goths alike with their “Fuck-to-this” sound. Perrone’s voice is kinky and alluring, turning you on and making you follow it wherever it goes. Devil On My Mind is wicked. – Alex Steininger
BIG BLAST ZINE From the SF bay, their “Some Kinda Voodoo” CD is modern rock w/ an east coast vibe & it doesn’t get any cooler than that. Be prepared to be won over. If radio gets their heads out of their asses, their songs will become radio darlings. One can only hope.
THIS WEEK / CONTRA COSTA TIMES (FORMER BAM) EDITOR DENNIS EROKAN We are going to see some great things from them in the future. All over California the suburbs are producing hit songs and bands.
CONTRA COSTA TIMES …someday Contra Costa County will be famous as their launching pad. – Tony Hicks
FREEMUSIC.COM Stinger is in love with Hollywood kitsch, and cartoon sensuality. Not too surprising that Perrone sings Stinger’s power punk/pop songs in a growl & styles herself less as singing sex kitten and more as sex kitten-with-a-whip.
REAL ROCK MAGAZINE The bay area has had many bands who have gone on to make a huge name for themselves such as Metallica, Santana, Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, and they are the newest sensation. They’re naturals. The singer is just incredible.
TIME OUT CONTRA COSTA TIMES TONY HICKS There’s enough catchiness to blow them up…the best thing about them is that they’re obviously not ripping off somebody who’s popular. They’re making their own mark – a serious yet fashionable rock band that at no time will cheat you.
TEENAGE KICKS MAGAZINE The new CD Devil On My Mind is just incredible. You have to hear it to believe how good it is. Every song just sounds amazing – and that voice: From rockers like “Fringe Authority” to the gorgeously haunting “Hollywood Ending”, this is the best CD of the year so far (and good luck topping it.)
CHIC MUSIQUE Devil On My Mind topped my best albums list last year at #1. It takes something special to lodge itself in my CD player for as long as they did.
GO GIRLS MUSIC Perrone sings w/ so much natural strength, she demands attention. This singer is so brilliant.
